IMI at 44: Global With Proudly Filipino Roots
Integrated Micro-Electronics, Inc. (IMI) celebrated its 44th anniversary in August.
Established in 1980 with a workforce of 100 and three factories in the Philippines, IMI mapped out its expansion in terms of expertise, specialization, and global presence. Today, the electronics manufacturing solutions company has 19 manufacturing sites across nine countries, providing engineering, manufacturing, and support and fulfillment capabilities to diverse industries globally.
IMI now employs more than 11,000 all over the world. From being a purely electronics manufacturing services (EMS) company in 2001, the company has become a comprehensive EMS provider for product design and development, prototyping, manufacturing, product test development and testing, and order fulfillment. It ranks among the top 25 EMS providers in the world, based on 2023 revenues, according to Manufacturing Market Insider. In the automotive market, it is among the 10 largest EMS providers, per New Venture Research.
IMI began as a joint venture between Ayala and Resins, Inc. for local integrated circuit assembly in 1980.
