In a groundbreaking public-private partnership, Bank of the Philippine Islands collaborated with the Department of Information and Communications Technology and USAID’s Better Access and Connectivity (BEACON) project to launch an extensive Cybersecurity Training and Certification Program.
As part of this initiative, BPI sponsored a five-day CompTIA Security+ (SY0-701) cybersecurity certification training for 17 employees from various government agencies.
BPI is the first private institution to partner with DICT and USAID-BEACON to host a full-scale, in-person cybersecurity certification, reinforcing its position as a leader in cybersecurity and an advocate for nation building through technology and digital resilience. The program aligns with the National Cybersecurity Plan 2023-2028 to increase the number of certified cybersecurity professionals among government employees.
The initiative also supports Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2024, championing DICT’s theme of “Cyber Tiwala, Cyber Handa, Cyber Tatag,” a theme that emphasizes the urgent need for partnerships across sectors to combat the growing threat of cyberattacks.
BPI continues to lead the charge in cybersecurity efforts, working alongside the government and organizations to build a safer and more secure digital landscape for all Filipinos. In July, the bank held its 2nd Cybersecurity and Consumer Protection Conference titled, “Securing Consumer Trust and Fortifying Resilience in an AI World,” during which key private and public officials discussed a multistakeholder approach to addressing cybercrimes.
