173 Years of Banking Excellence and Customer Obsession

Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) continues to uphold banking excellence as it celebrates its 173rd anniversary in August. With its focus on digitalization, cybersecurity, sustainability, and financial inclusion, the bank remains committed to transforming experiences, as it puts its customers at the center of all that it does.

“As the first bank in the Philippines and Southeast Asia, BPI aims to continue meeting the evolving needs of our customers amid fast changing times. We are committed to delivering banking excellence anchored on trust and the best digital offers,” said BPI President and CEO TG Limcaoco.

BPI has shown continuous growth, posting impressive financial results in the first half of 2024. The bank recorded a 21.5 percent increase year on year in net income to P30.6 billion, driven by robust revenues and sustained positive operating leverage. Meanwhile, total revenues improved by 23.8 percent year on year to P81.2 billion amid growth in net interest income.

Said BPI Chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala: “I’m filled with a great deal of pride and gratitude. It’s quite extraordinary how far we’ve come. You look around the world, and there are very few financial institutions that have stood for 173 years and continue to grow and add value to the communities around them. Together, let us continue to make a lasting impact in the lives of Filipinos.”

As part of its 173rd anniversary celebration, BPI is treating its customers to exciting and exclusive offers that they can enjoy this month, which will soon be announced on BPI’s social media accounts or website.

“We thank our customers for their unwavering support. With the dedication and hard work of our Unibankers, BPI will continue to be a reliable financial partner, inspiring more and more Filipinos to #DoMORE and #BeMORE,” Limcaoco said.

BPI employees, led by chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala and president and CEO TG Limcaoco, celebrate the bank’s 173rd anniversary with a thanksgiving Mass presided over by His Eminence Jose F. Cardinal Advincula, Archbishop of Manila, held on August 1 at its headquarters at Ayala Triangle Gardens Tower 2.
