Aside from environmental benefits, new energy vehicles protect against oil price volatility and reduce total ownership costs, making them more cost effective for individuals compared to traditional combustion engines.

In partnership with ACMobility and Mober Technologies, Liveable Cities Philippines held its seventh Liveable Cities Lab for the year entitled, “Electric Vehicles: Ride Into the Future,” on November 20 at the Ayala Triangle Gardens Tower 2. The session highlighted how new energy vehicles (NEVs) can address many of the challenges urban areas face today.

ACMobility CEO Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala discussed Ayala's vision to promote sustainable urban mobility through electric vehicles. The company is investing in NEVs and their supporting infrastructure, thereby addressing environmental issues while creating new opportunities for growth, innovation, and better urban living.

Mober Technologies Founder and CEO Dennis Ng outlined the company's role in reducing emissions, aligned with global sustainability trends. “There are significant opportunities to assist small truckers, including mom-and-pop operators, in shifting to EVs immediately,” he said. Mober enables businesses to integrate green technology into their supply chains. From a modest operation with just two EVs serving IKEA, Mober is growing its fleet to 1,000 EVs across six major cities.

GET President Freddie Tinga highlighted the Comet, an EV for mass transport, and advocated for smart mobility to address traffic congestion. “EVs help reduce pollution, but to solve traffic congestion, they must be integrated with intelligent mobility technology. Prioritizing mass transit offers the best balance of cost, utility, and efficiency," he said.

Finally, Valenzuela Mayor Wes Gatchalian underscored his city government's commitment to sustainability through the use of EVs and aligning with the Electric Vehicle Industry Development Act. On December 10, the city entered into a landmark partnership with ACMobility for an extensive fleet of the BYD Dolphin for its police cars.
