A Historic Partnership, A Remarkable Visit
The YEC delegation included Michael Woodley, Terrance Warrie, and Curtis Lockyer, along with YEC CEO Craig Stephen Ricato and Yindjibarndi organization executives Sean-Paul Stephens and Mike Hollett. They toured ACEN’s wind and solar farms in Ilocos Norte and Laguna; met with Australian Ambassador Hae Kyong Yu as well as Ayala executives led by Fernando Zobel de Ayala, Bong Consing, and Eric Francia; visited Ayala Museum; and participated in a treeplanting activity during which the Yindjibarndi men gave a moving dedication and named their tree saplings after their loved ones.
Representatives from the Yindjibarndi Energy Corporation (YEC), a joint venture of ACEN and Yindjibarndi Aboriginal Corporation (YAC) in Australia, traveled to the Philippines on November 6 to 10 to gain insights into ACEN’s large-scale renewable energy projects and integrated sustainability initiatives.
The delegation toured ACEN’s wind farms in Ilocos Norte and solar farm in Laguna, and engaged with ACEN’s project and sustainability teams and partner farmers in its conservation and agrivoltaic estates. Their visit concluded with a dinner hosted by Ayala Board Director Fernando Zobel de Ayala and President and CEO Cezar “Bong” Consing, and ACEN executives led by Eric Francia, Patrice Clausse, Jonathan Back, and Irene Maranan.
YEC was established after ACEN and the indigenous-led YAC forged a historic partnership in June to develop 3 GW of solar, wind, and battery storage projects on Yindjibarndi native land in Western Australia, allowing for the active participation of the Traditional Owners in Australia’s clean energy transition.
