Purpose and Values

"If we do the little things well, day in and day out, we can truly make a difference. With our new purpose statement and with our new list of values here, it can really define us as a group, as a company, and as a corporate citizen.”

CEZAR P. CONSING
AC President and CEO

Knowing Our Purpose,
Living Our Values

“Ayala has truly made a difference. And we do this not just because it’s nice to do, but because we can scale it, make it sustainable, and serve people.”

Ayala Corporation President and CEO Bong Consing opened Ayala’s first townhall of the year on January 8 with the launch of the parent company’s rearticulated Purpose and Values, reaffirming its role as a builder of businesses that enable progress and create impact

Consing reflected on Ayala’s long-standing commitment to nation building, citing examples of its transformative contributions. “Can you imagine the Philippines without Makati as its central business district, or without 24/7 water access, which Manila Water introduced? Can you imagine a time when Filipinos had no choice but the telecom monopoly until Globe disrupted it? Can you imagine the Philippines today without what we’re doing with BYD and clean energy, ACEN, without the digitalized banking system, without a cancer hospital? This is who we are. We create businesses that make a difference in people’s lives—and we do it in a way that is scalable and impactful,” he said.

At the heart of the townhall was Ayala’s purpose: “We build businesses that enable people to thrive.” This statement, Consing emphasized, is not just about the company’s achievements, but also about the behaviors that bring those achievements to life. He introduced Ayala’s core values—Imagine It Better, Create Value Together, Inspire Excellence, and Do What’s Right—as actionable principles designed to guide employees in their work.

The fireside chat that followed, moderated by Paolo Monteiro, brought these values into sharper focus. Mariana Zobel de Ayala, Jaime Z. Urquijo, and Jaime Alfonso Zobel de Ayala, members of the 8th generation of Ayala’s founding family, shared how they embody these values in their leadership and decision making.

Finally, the event was a call for every employee to actively shape the company’s future through purposeful and values-driven work. Employees received personalized flasks engraved with their favorite core value, along with stickers and ID lanyards featuring core value icons. These reinforced the message that Ayala’s Purpose and Values are not abstract concepts—they are meant to be lived and practiced every day.
