FZA Rejoins Ayala Group Boards
AC Health Chairman Fernando Zobel de Ayala visits the nearly complete Healthway Cancer Care Hospital together with Ayala Chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala, AC Health President and CEO Paolo Borromeo, Healthway Cancer Care Hospital COO Nona Ong, and other AC Health group executives.
FZA was president and CEO of Ayala from 2021 to 2022, and a board director from 1994 to 2022. As chief executive, he took the lead in strengthening the conglomerate’s sustainability commitment; Ayala was the first publicly listed company in the Philippines to commit to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
“I look forward to working with the Board, the senior management of Ayala Corporation, and our Chief Sustainability Officer Jaime Z. Urquijo in providing oversight and guidance on the company’s ESG strategy,” said FZA.
FZA replaces highly trusted adviser Mercedita “Edith” Nolledo, whom Ayala Chairman Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala has thanked “for her consistent support and guidance through the many years she worked with the Ayala group as an executive and a member of the Board.” Nolledo remains a member of the board of trustees of Ayala Foundation and BPI Foundation and the BPI Advisory Council.
AC Health Chairman, BPI Board Director
On September 25, FZA returned as chairman of AC Health, having previously served in that capacity from 2016 to 2022. He supported key acquisitions such as Healthway Philippines and a majority stake in QualiMed Health Network; partnerships for the construction of the country’s first dedicated cancer specialty hospital in Arca South, Taguig City; the consolidation of the group’s healthtech companies; and investments in IE Medica and MedEthix.
Last week, he also rejoined the BPI Board as a director, replacing Romeo Bernardo, who has been appointed to the Monetary Board of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. FZA was appointed as a member of the Executive Committee and Personnel and Compensation Committee. He previously served as BPI's vice chairman from 2013 to 2022, and was first elected to the bank’s board of directors in 1994.
The Ayala community welcomes Fernando back to the board of Ayala Corporation. Fernando brings with him a wealth of experience, and we look forward to his guidance and oversight as we continue to ramp up our ESG initiatives.
