IMAGINE IT BETTER
From Data to Story
The Ayala Data and Analytics Community of Practice (ADA COP) hosted two constructive webinars, "AI Tools for Productivity" on April 29 and "The Art of Data Storytelling" on May 21. Both sessions sought to empower Ayala Group professionals in leveraging AI tools and communicating data effectively.
Eskwelabs Co-founder and CEO Aurelien Chu discussed how to build solutions using no-code tools and stored prompt chains for ChatGPT, Gemini, or Claude. He said, “If you are going to be developing AI tools and solutions, you don’t necessarily need to be a coder. You can develop. The only thing you need here is to clearly articulate what you want.”
He also showcased Cursor and Windsurf for software development and delved into "vibe coding", an AI-driven approach to generate code in specific programming languages. A practical case study demonstrated vibe coding's usefulness in distributing projects and workloads to interns via email, highlighting AI's significant benefits in a professional environment.
In the second webinar, StoryIQ Co-founder and Master Facilitator Dominic Bohan gave five pointers in conducting presentations: 1) Define key takeaway; 2) Draft storyline; 3) Display data; 4) Declutter visuals; and 5) Direct attention. In his talk, Bohan highlighted the importance of choosing the right chart or graph based on the science of human vision. This includes creating a storyboard that guides the audience, eliminating unnecessary elements or metrics, and giving emphasis using color.
Formed in 2019, StoryIQ is led by co-founders Dominic Bohan and Isaac Reyes, with the goal of teaching data skills in a way that is accessible, engaging, and memorable. Bohan and Reyes also authored Data, Story, Action!, which provides in-depth discussion on the "5Ds" framework.
The next ADA webinar, on combining AI and business school to improve decision making, is set for September.
